SHARED RESOURCES

The Shared Resource (SR) program within the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research (PICR) is a vital component in advancing cutting-edge cancer research. These institute-sponsored facilities provide PICR investigators with access to state-of-the-art technologies, specialized services, and expert support that enhance scientific interaction and productivity.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES

PICR shared resources

The Purdue Institute for Cancer Research is the nucleus of the university’s on-campus and partner cancer research community. We foster close interactions among scientists in understanding aspects of chemical and structural biology, cell signaling, gene regulation, and effective targeting and delivery mechanisms for new anti-cancer agents. The shared resource’s role is to assist investigators from the institute’s scientific programs who are seeking novel approaches to addressing key cancer problems. By enabling groundbreaking discoveries and facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations, the SRs strengthen the quality and impact of cancer-relevant research conducted by our members. Explore below to see the resources we offer.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility

Nuclear magnetic resonance techniques for Purdue, area businesses, and the technology park

Macromolecular X-Ray Diffraction Lab

Collecting X-ray data to determine the molecular structures of proteins, viruses, and nucleic acids

Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility

A fee-for-service recharge facility providing cryo-electron microscopy for researchers inside and outside Purdue

Collaborative Core for Cancer Bioinformatics

A joint bioinformatics core between the PICR and IU Simon Cancer Center for members only

Biological Evaluation Core Facility

Using mouse models to study cancer biology, such as tumor invasion, metastasis, and malignant transformation

Flow Cytometry and Cell Separation Core Facility

Advancing cell sorting and cell analysis techniques, and providing consultation for protocol development

Metabolite Profiling Facility

Technologies that enable both qualitative and quantitative metabolomics in complex biological systems

Proteomics Facility

Proteomic infrastructure for the identification and characterization of proteins in a complex biological sample

Transgenic and Genome Editing Facility

Services include the creation of transgenic, gene knock-in and knock-out mouse and rat models for experiments

Enhancing research through collaborative shared facilities

In addition to institute facilities and Purdue-affiliated facilities, we also have a collaborative, partnership agreement to offer center-supported shared resources at internal rates. The Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center has a number of facilities that support cancer research.

Check out what shared facilities the IU Simon Cancer Center has to offer institute members.

Common equipment

The X-RAD320 is shared equipment at the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research that can be used for X-ray irradiation of cells and mice.

Located on the fourth floor of the Hansen Life Sciences building, it is a campuswide resource and offered free of charge.
