support that drives science
Advancing cancer research through competitive funding
The Purdue Institute for Cancer Research (PICR) provides access to internal and external funding opportunities that support cancer-focused research across disciplines. These resources help advance scientific discovery, foster collaboration and enhance the competitiveness of grant proposals.
PICR offers a robust portfolio of internal grant programs designed to spark scientific innovation, support investigators, and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration. These include donor-supported junior investigator awards, innovative pilot grants, and joint funding initiatives with internal and external partners such as the Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute. One of the institute’s most competitive opportunities—the Robbers Cancer Research Endowment—provides pilot funding exclusively for junior faculty, with recipients selected through a rigorous peer-review process.
Together, these internal funding mechanisms help advance promising new ideas, build research capacity and strengthen the future of cancer discovery at Purdue.
PICR presents annual Recognition Awards to honor the individuals whose work fuels innovation and fosters a thriving research environment. From faculty breakthroughs to trainee accomplishments and staff dedication, these awards celebrate the full spectrum of contributions that shape our scientific community. By spotlighting excellence in research, collaboration, and mentorship, PICR affirms its commitment to supporting the people who are driving meaningful progress against cancer.
Because these opportunities change frequently, PICR shares current external funding opportunities through internal communications channels.
