Purdue pharmaceutical compound sounds the alarm on cancer cells and unleashes T cells
Zhong-Yin Zhang of Purdue University’s College of Pharmacy and the Purdue Institute for Drug Discovery leads a team that has created a novel cancer immunotherapy compound that degrades an enzyme found in cancer cells and T cells. The research was published in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s peer-reviewed journal Chemical Science.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Andrew Mesecar, Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry and the Walther Professor in Cancer Structural Biology, has been named assistant vice president for research and director of the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research (PICR) after serving since August 2022 as interim director. Chosen for the position after a nationwide search, his new role was effective Sept. 1.
