On February 19, 2026, Mackey Arena hosts a Big Ten match-up as Purdue takes on Iowa during the annual Hammer Down Cancer women’s basketball game. The event brings Boilermaker fans together to rally behind the groundbreaking research advancing cancer science at the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research (PICR).

On-court recognition: breast cancer research
Please join us during the game in Mackey for a special appearance by PICR researcher and assistant professor Kyle Cottrell, joined by biochemistry graduate student and member of the Cottrell Lab Addison Young. Cottrell and Young will be recognized for their contributions to breast cancer research, including their recent discovery of a new therapeutic target for triple-negative breast cancer, published in the journal RNA.
